SSD means operating system loads fast. Free and easy upgrade from Windows 10S to Windows 10 to add special software I need for work. Also installed Linux Mint for dual boot. I mostly use Linux but great to have Windows for rare occasions that I need it. Plenty powerful to run Linux well with only 4 GB ram. Windows runs great and since it is used seldom, I won't install antivirus or other stuff to bog it down. Highly recommend Libre Office as a free alternative to microsoft office. This is not a high power machine but if you don't bog it down with unnecessary nonsense, it runs really fast and you would never notice that it is an ecomy machine. Build quality and screen is great. FYI, all works well with Linux Mint Mate, except sleep mode. It does not wake properly, so I turned it off. The fix will likely appear some months down the road. This is a new processor/gpu.
Laptop is really good overall. However, after one month of using it the sound started to fade away. Only way I can hear any sound is if my speakers are connected. I have read on many Acer forums that this specific model of laptop begins to have sound issues through time. I changed the sound drivers and everything and still no improvements on the sound. Other than that it's a really good laptop that can be upgraded easily. Battery life is not the best as well, but can be replaced by purchasing a new battery for the laptop if you are willing to spend more.
I was hesitant at first about buying a refurbished laptop but i've been an Acer customer for yrs and i decided to go ahead and give the refurbished idea a try and i'm very happy that i did so.The laptop is brand new no blemishes at all.The mechanics of this laptop are just like a new one and i am very happy with this purchase.I also saved around $80.00 by going this route and i'll apply those savings in purchasing an extended warranty so you can say this warranty is free of charge for the next 4yrs.I am EXTREMELY HAPPY with my (Used but very new)laptop!
